HOW TO INSTALL HYGIENIC WALL CLADDING

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Benefits of hygienic wall cladding

Installing hygienic wall cladding involves careful preparation, proper tools, and attention to detail. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process: Materials and Tools You'll Need:

  • Hygienic wall cladding panels

  • Adhesive suitable for hygienic wall cladding

  • Joints and trims

  • Measuring tape

  • Spirit level

  • Utility knife or panel saw

  • Notched trowel

  • Sealant

  • Screws and wall plugs (if needed)

  • Protective clothing and equipment (gloves, safety goggles)

  • Step ladder or platform

Installation Steps:

  1. Preparation:

    • Clear the wall of any existing fixtures, debris, and old paint or wallpaper.

    • Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and free from any bumps or irregularities.

  1. Measure and Plan:

    • Measure the dimensions of the walls where you'll install the cladding panels.

    • Plan the layout to minimize the number of joints and ensure symmetry.

  1. Cutting Panels:

    • Use a measuring tape and a straight edge to mark the dimensions of the panels on the backside of the cladding material.

    • Cut the panels to size using a utility knife or a panel saw.

  1. Adhesive Application:

    • Apply the adhesive to the back of the panel using a notched trowel. Make sure to cover the entire surface evenly, with slightly thicker coverage along the edges.

  1. Panel Installation:

    • Align the panel with the bottom of the wall and press it firmly into place.

    • Use a spirit level to ensure the panel is perfectly vertical and level.

    • Press and hold the panel for a few seconds to ensure proper adhesion.

  1. Trim Installation:

    • Install joint trims at corners and where panels meet. These trims provide a clean finish and cover any exposed edges.

    • Apply adhesive to the back of the trim and press it onto the edge of the panel.

  1. Repeat the Process:

    • Continue installing panels in the same manner, making sure to leave a small gap between them for expansion.

    • Trim panels as needed to fit around fixtures, outlets, or other obstacles.

  1. Sealing and Finishing:

    • Apply sealant along the edges of the panels to prevent water from seeping behind them.

    • Install ceiling trims if necessary.

  1. Clean Up:

    • Clean off any excess adhesive or sealant with a damp cloth before they dry.

  1. Curing and Drying:

    • Allow the adhesive to cure and the panels to fully adhere as per the manufacturer's recommendations. This could take several hours to a day.

  1. Final Checks:

    • Double-check the alignment and levelness of the panels.

    • Inspect the joints, trims, and sealant for a neat and secure finish.

Keep in mind that the exact installation process may vary based on the specific type of hygienic wall cladding you're using and the manufacturer's instructions. It's essential to follow those instructions closely for the best results. If you're unsure about any step, consider consulting a professional or contacting the manufacturer for guidance.
